Why Aircrafts use 400 Hz?

The worldwide standard for aerospace and aviation is 400hz. Using 400hz in the airports all around the world is a global standard.

The higher frequency means less material ( volüme /mass ) for cables, transformers and generators and less power loss. The saving of weight allows to increase cargo capacity , to carry more passenger and helps to decrease fuel consumption.
